A visit to the Wartburg with Palas and Lutherstube is counted as the highlight among a multitude of thematic museums in and around Eisenach. Build in the year of 1067, the castle represents 900 years of German history in an impressive architectural ensemble and is considered one of the best kept German national monuments. In 1999 the Wartburg has been added to the prestigious list of UNESCO world heritage sites.
Another must is a visit to the home of Bach. This gorgeous house, equipped with historic chattels, gives an impression of the culture of living around the year of 1700. It houses an extensive collection of pictures, original documents and exclusive exhibits of its eponym Johann Sebastian Bach.
